Chairman’s Report 14 November 2009
I have pleasure in reporting on the activities of PEECE over the past year.
It has been another year of promoting PEECE as a service provider across a varied range of transport areas and we have been involved in a number of successful projects.
These include a significant amount of work on corridor planning for Economic Associates, the feasibility study for an alternative heavy vehicle route at Tenterfield and road planning contracts with Moree Plains Council. Our work with Economic Associates on Queensland corridor planning has been important in demonstrating how we can build and maintain key relationships with like-minded consultants who provide complimentary skills.
Congratulations to all involved.
While our overtures for the Chinese delegation came to nothing this year, there remains an optimism that our interest in the Jilin Provincial Communications Department will lead to a positive outcome in time. We must take a long term view of what we can achieve with our Chinese friends.
The asset valuation market, while not as straight forward as we might have hoped, has particular potential for the group as compliance pressures build within local government. We remain intent on positioning ourselves for what will become a very busy and lucrative area.
PEECE is well poised to increase our business base over coming years – the brand is maturing with the promotion of freight policy to the NSW RTA and link strategies to the Queensland Department of Main Roads. Increasingly, our work for these two state agencies will be under the PEECE banner.
From my perspective, the most important development for the company over the past twelve months has been the willingness of individual Directors to explore opportunities together. The collective skills set that you possess is formidable, and this will only lead to increased opportunity for all of us to engage in interesting and profitable work.
I would like to thank our Executive Director Peter Rufford, on behalf of the group, for continuing to be the flagpole and mast of the organisation, and Steve O’Rourke and his company for looking after PEECE’s finances.
Thank you all for your friendship and continued support over the past twelve months, and I look forward to an exciting year ahead.
